“Pierre Nzeyimana and Nkanda Washing Station have been partners of ours since the beginning in 2017. We set out to discover producers who were producing amazing quality in underserved areas of Burundi, and those that also didn’t have a consistent and relationally invested partner giving them a voice in the market. Upon tasting, meeting and visiting Nkanda, our match and relationship has proven itself to be incredible year after year.

"Nkanda Washing Station produces solid and classic fully washed coffees that are separated by hill and community honoring the microclimates within their reach. Nyankurazo, Cumba, Maramvya, Kamira and homebase Nkanda are the core communities that contribute beautiful cherries to Nkanda. Pierre and his 3 adult sons run the washing station managing various parts of the process. This familial crew has taught us a lot about the area, the business and their role in the community. To many in the west, farming and the coffee trade are pure business. This team has shown us that they play an impactful role in the farming culture to support the smallholders that surround their area.
